Equipment

  • 1 small skillet

Ingredients

  • ½ c onion, chopped fine about ½ of a small onion
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 c vegan sour cream such as Cocojuene brand
  • 2 Tb chives chopped into little pieces
  • 1 teaspoon liquid aminos or soy sauce or salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  • Combine the onion and olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Stir for 4-6 minutes until the onions are translucent and browned. Adjust the heat as needed and add a splash of water if the pan becomes too dry.
  • Remove the cooked onions to a bowl, and let cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Once the onion mixture is cool to the touch, stir in the remaining ingredients.
  • Serve immediately or store for up to a week in the fridge. The flavors will deepen a little bit if it sits for a day.

Notes

This recipe serves 4 people as a small appetizer (about ¼ cup per person). For a heftier portion, this will serve 2 people.
